Today.

Have you ever had a good idea and talked yourself our if it... for whatever reason?  I have done that a hundred times.  You know the excuses, "I don't have time, and the resources", or "who do I think I AM going up against the competition, I am not qualified,  not good enough and I will probably make a fool of myself"  etc. etc.

When I started dreaming about the idea to create a recipe book all those uncertainties took center stage in my mind.  They were pretty darn convincing most days, but I couldn't give up for one very important reason.

None of it was my idea.
The books, the recipe cards, the logo, the title "When Life Gives you Lemons...", nothing.

I have been very humbled over the last two years and have truly learned the hard lessons.

I remember having a good conversation with the Big Guy upstairs. It went something like this.

O.K. God here I am....pretty pathetic, I have a lot of weaknesses and I admit I have made a few dumb mistakes in my life.  but I have a proposition for you
(I don't really bargain with the Lord too often but I was in need of some serious help)

We are lacking on the funds, no equity, no property, no disposable income, we are paying on our debts and YES we have swallowed our pride.
We could really use some extra money, but going to work is not an option for me because I want to be with my kids, Soooooo can we work something out here?
This might be a stretch but Is there any way I can make some extra money, stay home with my kids and do something that I love???

Once I asked the question there was no turning back.  Doors started to open, ideas started to pop into my head and people showed up in my life to help me along the way. So I kept plugging along one recipe, one picture, and one mess at a time.  I found myself questioning my sanity with this project, doubts popped up (and still do pop up) daily.
but I try to ignore them.  Because,
like I said, it wasn't my idea.

Yesterday a store in Nevada called me up and placed an order, and today I have already sold 7 books online.  The funny thing is I did it all in my pajamas, with kids playing in the background. I had to stop and laugh.... and then cry
(just a little... because you know I don't do that).

So I guess there is no turning back.  I am putting myself out there.

Congratulations !!!!
You are inspirational. I love having a collection of all the favorite, tried and true recipes. It has been a labor of love for you and now we can benefit from all those messes in your kitchen, runs to the grocery store for forgotten ingredient, extra 5 pounds from taste testing the recipes and lack of sleep because that's the only time the house is quiet.
Hugs and "sugar" kisses
Mom
